My name is Jessica and you can come to me for any of your language-related needs! A graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University, I am a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist and English as a Second Language teacher (ESL / ESOL). I have years of experience tutoring the SAT as well as the languages of French and Italian. Please read below for my specific qualifications in each of these areas. Speech-Language Pathology: I currently work with students K-12 with various educational needs, including learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, reading comprehension, literacy/phonemic awareness, writing, grammar, vocabulary, study skills, social skills and speech production (articulation). I have undergone special training at Columbia University to work with individuals who are bilingual. Additionally, I have experience working with adults who would like to learn the speech patterns to modify an accent based on learning English as a Second Language. English as a Second Language (ESL/ESOL): I am an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher and have years of experience teaching English as a Second Language to children through adults. Having taught English abroad and in New York at an international language school, in addition to pursuing TESOL certification, I am uniquely qualified to teach English in terms of reading, writing, speaking, listening, exam preparation, grammar, business English, and accent reduction (due to my background in speech-language pathology). SAT Reading/Writing: I have been tutoring the SAT Reading and Writing sections at a private test preparation company for many years. Due to my expertise in language teaching, I am particularly qualified to teach these sections of the exam. I scored in the 98th percentile on the SAT Reading/Writing and in the 93rd percentile on the GRE exam (graduate school level SAT). French and Italian: I teach French and Italian, which I have been proficient in and tutoring for over 15 years. I have lived and studied Italian in Italy at international language schools. Additionally, I have taught French and Italian at an international language school, to children and adults of all ages and backgrounds.
